Renewable Energy
We can no longer go on releasing deadly greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The threat of global climate change is real and happening already. According to many scientists we need a drastic reduction of carbon dioxide emissions within the next five to ten years on the order of 90 percent.
This solution must extend further than just oil; we also need to immediately get ourselves off of our coal and gas addictions as well, and turn to renewable energy sources. We cannot turn to the dangerous and dirty path of coal or nuclear energy. We need to look to a combination of biofuels, wind, solar, microhydro, and other non-polluting carbon-free sources of energy.
At OPOA, we are searching for ways to make renewable energy affordable and available to organizations and community members that are working on relocalizing their neighborhoods and communities.
